Closure of NEHL - Questions and Answers

Why is the Lottery Closing? The One Wish Lottery Board of Directors have taken the decision to close the lottery as a result of decreasing membership over time. It has therefore been decided that now is a good time to close the lottery and encourage current One Wish Lottery members to continue to support their local Hospice.

You can visit these Hospices using the links below:

When will my last payment be taken?

It will depend on how you pay, how much you paid and when you last paid. The last draw of the One Wish Lottery will take place on Friday 29th March 2024. The date of your last payment and any amounts you have in credits are detailed in the communication which has been sent to lottery players. If you haven't received a communication, please call 01325 288 484.

How can I request a refund for any credits?

You will need to have completed the refund form by Friday 29th March 2024. We will post your refund to you using a cheque to the address and person named on your lottery account. Cheques must be cashed within 6 months of issue. Any uncashed cheques after 6 months will be converted to a donation.

What if I don't want a refund for any remaining credits?

If you have not let us know that you would like a refund by Friday 29th March 2024, we will convert these credits into a donation which will be shared equally between the four Hospices: St Cuthbert's Hospice; St Teresa's Hospice; St Benedict's Hospice and Butterwick Hospice.

How do I claim my prize?

As per the lottery terms and conditions, any unclaimed prizes after six months of issue will be turned into a donation. If you are in receipt of a winning cheque that you haven't yet cashed (and it is within 6 months of issue) we encourage you to cash this as soon as possible and by Friday 29th March 2024 at the latest.

Any players with winning cheques that haven't been cashed by Friday 29th March 2024, but are still within 6 months of issue, need to contact 01325 288 484 to claim their prize. Any unclaimed prizes will be turned into a donation if they are not claimed within 6 months of issue.

Do I need to cancel my Standing Order with the bank?

Only you can cancel your standing order with the bank. After the last draw takes place on Friday 29th March 2024, no standing order payments can be made to the NEHL bank account as the account will be closed. If you want to cancel your standing order before the 29th March 2024 you will need to cancel this yourself with your bank.

Do I need to cancel my Direct Debit with the bank?

All Direct Debit payments will be stopped after Friday 29th March. You may also wish to inform your bank and cancel your Direct Debit yourself. No further payments will be collected after this date.

How can I continue to support you?

We would greatly value your continued support. You can find information on each of the member Hospices below.
